More silk ribbon embroidery

Hi, blog friends! Today was my dear husband's birthday. I am so blessed being married to him. God is good! Well, another weekend almost here! Time really flies sometimes, especially when you don't want it to! It's been cold and windy here this week. I don't mind the cold so much, but when the wind blows 70 or 80 m.p.h, that's when I just want to hibernate! Brrr! Of course, it could be worse. I could be in Alaska where my sister is. It was -12 there yesterday! No thank you!

I made this free hand silk ribbon embroidery border several months ago, and used it on a card, but I wasn't  happy with the card. So I tore the card apart and saved the border for another day. I brought it out yesterday and came up with this card. I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. I think it could use a little something else, but I can't figure out what that something is! Maybe it will come to me later. (like when I'm trying to sleep, like it usually does!) I also tried spraying a little homemade glimmer mist to add a little sparkle. Shouldn't have done that. Now it's spotty in some places. When will I learn to leave well enough alone? :(

I've had this Pink Paislee Butterfly Garden paper for a while, but couldn't bring myself to cut it! I'm sure you all have a few of those that you just can't bear to part with! I have one sheet left, so I'd better find some more quick! Love it! The green leaf paper is a piece of fabric that I scanned onto card stock.
And I've used navy cs from Stampin'up, and Kraft cs from Bazzill. I didn't want to cover up the beautiful bird on my paper, so I just decorated with embellishments and no image. The resin birds are from Prima. I added a little color to the birds with TH distress inks. The black key is BoBunny, the pearl swirls are from Prima, the flower is WOC, as is the lace and the pearl brad. I used a MS bird punch for the border along the edge of my embroidery, and on the inside, and two other MS punches for the edges and the square inside. The sheet music dp is from Hobby Lobby. The birdcage was cut out using a TH die. The image on the tag inside is from The Graphics Fairy. Just love her stuff! I also added a little February calendar under the birdcage that I got free from Crafty Secrets.

I'm entering my card in these challenges:

Ribbon Girl challenge- blue and pink
City Crafter- pretty inside and out
Papertake Weekly- buttons, bows, bling, bloom
Paper Sundaes- pick an old challenge (I've picked "celebrate")
Moving Along With The Times- things with wings
Bizzy Bec's Store- anything goes

So, that's it for me! I hope you like my latest creation and thanks for visiting! Blessings, Karen

  1. Hi Karen. I just LOVE your work - it's stunningly beautiful. Your love for the Lord shines through your beautiful work. Thanks for your sweet comment. I was gonna say - Shelly's Images Chicken Wire image was really fun to work with. It's big, so you can cover the page with it, or use a smaller piece for smaller projects. I'm also sitting here asking myself why you and I are not following one another's blogs. I always like to ask permission first. So, if you're interested, please stop back and follow and I will gladly do the same. I LOVE your work - but I alredy said that - LOL. I look forward to talking with you and getting to know you better. Thanks again for stopping by.
    Blessings to you,
    Karen
